Fortune teller on a stroll

If you need anything A’rysse might be able to help you out. She appears to be warm and open and can often be found near or at the markets. Pay her a little gil and she’ll be able to give you some sweet advice about your future endeavors by only touching the palms of your hands or some card reading.
Although she looks quite gentle and sweet, she has her own secrets and won’t just spill them like a common gossip on the streets. A’Rysse doesn't trust many people and prefers to keep her life and her past for herself.
sceptic about other people's intention with her she wont allow anyone near her.

She refuses to give in to her own feelings and says she doesnt have any need for connecting with people on a deeper and personal level. She can act it out after all the experiences she had as a child, but in the end most of the sweet and warm interactions with the people around her are all fake.
She won't admit it since it's a deep personal wound, but she's actually rather lonely.

But even with all that she's very driven and actually is a great listener and in the end will try to make her customers go home with a fullfilled feeling.

Story

The life she lives

From the very moment she started a buisness of her own A'rysse has always handeled with her very own philosophy: always keep your gentle face and act it out. Many people earn their ranks with unfair games, so why should I be honest all the time.
A gpod actress, even when the people pay her. in her heart it's all an act. though she met many people, she's forever unsure about their true intentions and about her own.

Family life

A'rysse was born in Ul 'dah. An only child of a miner (her father) who used to be more active within his clan but moved to Ul 'dah to start his life there. There he met her mother. a dancer, and the two had gotten together rather quickly.
Her mother however didn't always get the nicest or most decent to look at her performances, after a rather unfortunate night she got A'rysse. Her father accepted her in the family without any problems and treated her like he was his own. Her mother however couldn't look past the real father and could only see her own shame in her daughter. She disliked the tiny miqote with every day she grew taller and taller.
A'rysse has always known in her heart that she wasn't loved by her mother and thus she never got to connect with her. But she never really thought it to be a big deal. She had her father's love and that was good enough.

Both A'Rysse and her mother however cared enough about her father to keep up a certain facade within their family life. They acted normal and function, a doting mother and the sweet daughter willing to do any chore in the house.
Her father was the one thing that held them all together, even if it was quite weak to start with.

A financial downfall for her father's stone and gem business on the markets in Ul'dah would mean the end of the perfectly fake life she had here. A wealthy merchant screwed her father over and thus the gil to spend got lesser each day.
Her father's health declined and with no money there were no medicins. leaving her with just her mom.
The two agreed to go their own ways, knowing full well that they never truly got along and with A'Rysse's father gone there was no reason to stick together anymore.

And thus began her life as an honest, yet not so honest merchant

The fortune teller of Ul'Dah

Around the age of 16 A'Rysse had no other choice but to make her own fortunes and started near the markets. She started out selling jewelry she made from the small amount of materials she could find. but she was easily outsold by those who made deals with the miners around town. Not believing in her own skill concerning goldsmithing she decided to look for a different way to make money.

One day would change her life for the better. The morning sun woke up many of the local merchants and the people were ready to spend and sell. One of the more wealthy merchants in the block however was in great distress. His life was falling apart and nothing was clear to the oh so poor man.
"Wealthy men and women will believe anything as long as they're desperate enough.'' her father's words once again. and a good reminder to put a certain skill to work .
Improvising and putting on the most gentle face she offered him some help, some advice even. All he had to do was pay a small fee. The man as desperate as he was accepted the offer and couldn't resist or see any ill intent in the gentle miqote's face.
'I'm a fortune teller you see, all I need is your hand and your good faith.' Every single word was believed and the man went home happy and even gave her a little extra for even more words of advice.
This was A'Rysse's calling. 'The fortune teller for a small fee'

Her days had gotten busy. Some would come to her for actual facts about their future, others just needed someone to talk with or some company. And some wanted even more. But she accepted it all, even though her heart felt absolutely nothing for the people that came to visit her.

Mother and child reunited for one last time

A few years went by and A'Rysse's business had quite some succes. Her customers are happy and she gets her gil. That's all that matters right? Even though she didn't really have many people around her except for a few acquaintances. She was alive and living freely and in the end all she wanted was to survive and prove to others that she was worth more than people took her for.

One rumour would stir up her life once more unfortunately.
The townspeople were gossiping about the downfall of one on the wealthiest and most important merchants in Ul'Dah. and one who was very well known for A'Rysse. The same man who ruined her father's buisness back then.
This very rumour had reached her mother as well and the unexpected happened. She came to A'Rysse herself for a plan which would avenge her father's death in a way. In the end the very financial setback was the catalyst to his death.
It was known that the merchant was rather superstitious and he often came to the place where her mother used to dance and no managed. She would be able to send him to Rysse's place and then the worst advice possible could be given here: destroy it all, and begin anew. Life will grant you everything back in the end.

To do this however would come with a risk of A'Rysse's good name gone, so she would've to move to a different place if that happened . She knew that in her heart. but this was the way to get back to the man.

The plan was set in motion and our merchant visited, after a session with some self-destructive advice for the man and some fake comforting this scheme couldn't be stopped anymore.
All was well, even with the risk of him eventually finding out she played him like a damned fiddle, or so she thought.
In the end her mother double crossed her hoping to get revenge on the merchant but also get rid of A'ryss's presence in town.

Her mother's lover, or maybe she liked him for his money who even knows, and she made a deal. they would get rid of the merchant but also of her daughter...
He was into the looks of our miqo fortune teller however and offered another deal: he wouldn't turn her in if she went along, after all her mother was beautiful, but A'rysse was younger and shared many physical traits with his lover. She refused, but he didn't give up. After being pushed and forced she grabbed the nearest heavy object and was able to get away.
Angry with her mother for breaking the promise they made when they set on seperate ways (let eachother be) she visited her one last time to set things straight before leaving Ul'Dah and fledding to Ishgard.

A new city, a new path

In ishgard she returned to the markets. more careful this time hoping she wouldn't make more enemies here as well. With a lack of buisness partners and acquintances like she had in Ul'Dah it made some things more tough, luckily she was able to return to selling Jewelry as well, being able to stand out with the cultural differences.
She got contact with the empoirium, after which she joined the group where every single person around also had their own experiences and stories, fitting right in.

OOC

  • I'm from Europe (timezone is CET/CEST (GMT+1/GMT+2))

  • RP can be done in game, but I also have discord at hand if necessairy. Both options work. (I also have a twitter account, linked below)

  • I'm open for anything really, I'm always available for some plotting beforehand or thinking up a setting or a starting point. The same point as earlier about using discord if necessairy can be used here for quicker communication .

  • Talking about that. Even though A'Rysse has her own setting and backstory. I'm up for AU"s as well

  • Some good ol' character lore is always a nice extra. Feel free to ask about my character or feel free to talk about yours. Always open for a good chat OOC about them.

  • Note: English is not my native language and I might have some trouble making up perfectly good sentences, but we're trying here

  • Mature RP only when you're 18+

Hooks

  • A'Ryse's job is already a conversation starter in some way. Maybe you want to come by and have your future told? Or maybe you just need some company? A small fee and all is well.

  • In the years she's been doing this business she's met many different types of people on the streets. With some she even started a partnership. Gaining information about the citizens around town is always useful for the job. Maybe you're one of her acquaintances? How did we met... what are we doing now?

  • Some street shenanigans, nice little strolls while getting to know eachother, or if they already know eachother, maybe they're on a mission to get something/do something.

Her business

Palm readings

Palm readings are more physical, you have to be prepared to have your hand held for quite some time. It takes a while trying to find the right lines so usually there's some conversation while she's thinking about the answer of your question. The only thing that's pretty important here is that the question you're asking is supposed to be as specific as possible to answer it properly and complete.

Card readings

Card readings aren't done as much as hand readings, but with a few cards she can also tell you what the future might bring for you. She'll arrange them right in front of you and after that draw one of them, or maybe more...
There is a difference in detail however in contrast to hand reading. With hand reading you'll have to be way more specific with what you're asking, here you'll still have to be specific, but a little less since it's more of a general reading, rather than a problem solving one.
These cards can bring a certain direction, but there's still a lot of room for chance after the lot has been drawn. You'll have to be open for chance if something bad comes out of it.

Comfort and conversation

Sometimes people book an hour or something for just a nice little chat/just some comfort after a reading or even instead of a reading. It does cost you since she's not some free for al therapist. anything more also costs people. Even though it's not exactly the buisness she wants to be known for A'rysse will still accept the gil from some lonely souls.
